  • The article profiles public health expert Cynthia A. Gómez, PhD., and her work to correct inequities in public health, health care, and social justice. A documentary film that Gómez is developing is noted that depicts efforts taken by private citizens to stem the incidence of HIV infections. Gómez is the founding director of the San Francisco State University Health Equity Institute. Colleagues praise her skills in science and leadership as well as her ability to be grounded in the community. The range of activities that Gómez participates in are articulated. Her dedication to education and teaching is noted.
