Resumen de La traducción del Aleph: El diminuto universo de E. Nesbit en la Editorial Calleja

El artículo indaga en los antecedentes inmediatos del Aleph descrito por Jorge Luis Borges. El objetivo es analizar cómo se traduce la visión del Aleph desde la cultura anglosajona de principios del siglo XX – Edith Nesbit (1858-1924) – a la española de los años 20 –las traducciones de sus cuentos fantástico en la Editorial Calleja. El análisis de estas traducciones ha supuesto para la investigación dos retos fundamentales: en primer lugar detectar que los cuentos publicados por la editorial Calleja pertenecían en realidad a la escritora británica E. Nesbit y apuntar un posible traductor; en segundo lugar comparar cómo se traduce la visión del Aleph de una cultura a otra.

This article focuses on the immediate forerunners of the Aleph described by Jorge Luis Borges. The aim is to analyse how the vision of the Aleph is translated from the Anglo-Saxon culture of the beginning of the XXth century — Edith Nesbit (1858- 1924) — to Spanish culture in the 1920 — translations of her fantastic tales in the editorial Calleja. The analysis of these translations has meant to the research two fundamental challenges: first, to detect that the stories published by the« editorial Calleja actually belonged to the British writer E. Nesbit and locate a possible translator; and secondly to compare how the vision of the Aleph is translated from one culture to the other.
