Some spiders build decoys in their own image in their webs. The behavior has been spotted in Madagascar, the Philippines, and in the Peruvian Amazon. Discovered along a trail near the lab, the spiders are presumed to be a new species in the genus Cyclosa. Other members adorn their webs with debris, but Lary Reeves and Aaron Pomerantz are here to find out why spiders in this particular species seem to arrange jungle and insect parts into larger-than-life effigies of themselves.
