Resumen de The functioning of the two national languages in a minor enterprise in the province of Vasa, Finland

Christer Laurén, Solveig Strömman

  • A description is given of the alternating and mixed use of Swedish and Finnish at a small company in the bilingual city of Vasa, Finland. Language use in internal routines is largely determined by traditions, language knowledge of the employees and occasional factors. The use of two languages in the company is largely free from conflict due to the fact that most employees have quite a good knowledge of the other national language.
