  • The article discusses two techniques that are helping farmers conserve water in Punjab, India. Topics include an overview of the causes for the water shortages in Punjab, such as the cultivation of water-intensive agriculture of nontraditional crops and the conservation tools that are helping farmers use less water, such as the tensiometer, which reflects the moisture content of soil, and lasers to detect undulations in fields.
