The article discusses the design and construction of the International Space Center's cosmic-ray detector, the Alpha Magnetic Spectrometer (AMS), which will scan the universe in search of dark matter and anti-matter. A brief overview of cosmic rays, which are subatomic particles and atomic nuclei, and a diagram which explains the purpose of various instruments on the AMS is presented.
