  • The article discusses research about the evolution of grandparent-aged people and the impact that older people have had on populations, social interactions, and the genetics of human groups through the ages. Techniques used to determine longevity based on human fossils are described. Fossils taken from the Paleolithic period suggest that the older population surge affected human social structure as well as increased the chances for birth and survival.
