  • In this article, New York City (NYC) mayor Michael R. Bloomberg discusses an incentive program that offers NYC real estate to universities that are willing to build or a expand science and engineering campuses in the city, which will ultimately create jobs. He mentions other historical U.S. programs offering land for university development. He notes that the presence of prominent research institutions allowed Boston, Massachusetts to outstrip NYC as a hub of innovation.
