  • The article discusses research by mathematician Jonathan Kane and oncologist Janet Mertz published in the January 2012 issue of the journal "Notices of the American Mathematical Society" about the nature of gender differences in math performance. Data from 52 countries indicated that the gender gap is not due to innate differences but rather related to social and cultural factors.
