The article discusses online privacy laws and the access of law enforcement to the electronic communications of private citizens. Because of changes in technology user information from Internet search engines like Google is now available to law enforcement agencies. A coalition called Digital Due Process is working with the U.S. Congress to amend the Electronic Communications Privacy Act (ECPA) of 1986 to provide protection of personal data.
