  • Resumen
    • The article reports that police departments in the U.S. and Europe are using a protective policing system to reduce crime rates. Predictive software uses a combination of traditional criminal data and information like upcoming paydays to predict where crime may happen next. Though these techniques have aided data analysis due to processing power and removing human preconceptions, criminologists have raised concerns about their effectiveness. Since the use of Blue CRUSH in Memphis, Tennessee, which was started in 2006, the city has seen a decrease in property and violent crimes, but these statistics may be influenced by peak crime rates that occurred in 2006. INSETS: Down Years;Criminal Aftershocks.
