  • Resumen
    • The article discusses the search for effective strategies to eliminate bad breath, or halitosis. The author notes that most people occasionally experience bad breath, adding that solutions ranging from avoiding onions to using dental floss have provided only temporary relief. Topics include scientists' detection of 150 molecular components of human exhalations that are released by bacteria breaking down particles of food and tissue in the mouth, such as dimethyl sulfide, gram-negative bacteria on the tongue, which is responsible for most of the mouth's foul odors, and methods for combating bad breath, such as the use of probiotics that contain the gram-positive bacterial strain Streptococcus salivarius K12.
