Resumen de Mars in motion.

Alfred S. McEwen

  • The article discusses the changing surface of the planet Mars and whether water may be the cause. The author notes that most of the discoveries of water on Mars have involved visual evidence of ancient water, ice vapor, or hydrated minerals. He adds that the discovery of actual water on the surface could alter the course of Mars exploration. Topics include the first credible evidence of actual water via data from the Mars Global Surveyor (MGS) spacecraft in 2000 that identified Martian gullies suggestive of flowing water, detailed images of the gullies by the Mars Reconnaissance Orbiter (MRO) High-Resolution Imaging Science Experiment (HiRISE), and the discovery of a class of features, called recurring slope lineae (RSL), that could harbor microbial life.
