  A Gerontopsicomotricidade (GPM) é uma terapia não farmacológica e de mediação corporal, cujo primeiro objetivo passa por dar resposta às alterações consequentes do envelhecimento, melhorando a relação consigo e com o outro, adaptando-se ao seu novo corpo e às suas novas capacidades, não descurando a contínua exploração da criatividade, onde os materiais podem ser um facilitador. Neste sentido, e de forma a perceber como os materiais são meios para alcançar os objetivos definidos pelos psicomotricistas (no âmbito socioemocional, cognitivo, sensorial e psicomotor) desenvolveuse um estudo exploratório, aplicando-se um questionário ao qual responderam 124 psicomotricistas com experiência em GPM, sendo a amostra maioritariamente do género feminino e com a formação de base na atual licenciatura de Reabilitação Psicomotora. Os resultados obtidos revelaram, com base nos materiais mais escolhidos pelos psicomotricistas, os objetivos para os quais são utilizados e a versatilidade dos mesmos, havendo várias concordâncias com a literatura existente.

  Gerontopsychomotricity (GPM) is a nonpharmacological and body mediation therapy which aims to respond to the consequent changes of aging, improving the relationship with self and with others, adapting to the new body and its new capacities, not neglecting the continuous exploration of creativity, where the materials can work as a facilitator. In this sense, and in order to understand how materials are means to reach the goals defined by the psychomotor therapists (in the socio-emotional, cognitive, sensory and psychomotor scope) an exploratory study was conducted, applying a questionnaire to which 124 psychomotor therapists with experience in GPM answered, being the majority of the sample of the female gender and with basic formation in the current Psychomotor Rehabilitation degree. The results obtained revealed, based on the most chosen materials by the psychomotrists, the objectives for which they are used and the versatility of the same, having several concordances with the existing literature.
