Enriquecimento ambiental para suínos em fase inicial

    Objetivou-se avaliar o comportamento de suínos em fase inicial, submetidos a ambiente modificado. O estudo foi realizado no período de 20 de junho a 28 de julho de 2011, na localidade Jatobá, a 15 km de Tanque do Piauí. Foram utilizados 20 animais mestiços (Landrace x Piau), com idade aproximada de 45 dias. Os animais foram divididos em quatro grupos uniformes e submetidos a quatro tratamentos de modificação ambiental. Para o comportamento inativo, foi observado que o mesmo foi maior quando da presença do ambiente modificado. O comportamento inativo alerta foi superior quando da presença de brinquedoteca. Os comportamentos morder, cheirar, brigar e perseguir foram diminuídos quando da presença de música e brinquedoteca. A musicoterapia e o ambiente enriquecido podem favorecer o bem-estar de suínos na fase inicial.

    The aim with the study was to evaluate the behavior of pigs in the initial phase, submitted to modifications in their breeding environment. The study was carried out in Jatobá, 15 km from the city of Tanque do Piauí. Twenty animals were used (Landrace x Piau), approximately 45 days old. The animals were divided into four uniform groups and submitted to four treatments of environmental modification, being the introduction of toys made with pet bottles in the stalls and the use of classical music. For the inactive behavior, it was observed that it was higher when the modified environment was present. The inactive alert behavior was superior when the presence of toy library. The behaviors biting, smelling, fighting and chasing were reduced when the presence of music and toy library. Music therapy and the enriched environment with toys can favor the welfare of pigs in the initial phase.
