Two American health insurers, Aetna and Humana, are already using Cogitos voice analysis in their call centers. Dana Gresky of Humana in Louisville says her company uses the software to help their staff recruit customers for clinical programs that help manage conditions like obesity or asthma. Alessandro Vinciarelli of the University of Glasgow, UK, says Cogito is part of a wave of new companies commercializing research on the analysis of the subconscious signals one gives off that betray his state of mind.
