    En este trabajo se presenta como fue el papel que jugaron los jesuitas en el proceso de colonización y expansión desde el centro al noroeste del virreinato novohispano. En el mismo se ven dos momentos importantes y diferenciados: uno es la llegada a la región y provincia de Sinaloa y otro a la de Sonora. Se hace explícito la manera distinta con la que los ignacianos pacificaron y evangelizaron en estos territorios, la combinación jesuitas–militares, se sustituyó por la del par jesuitas-indios misioneros.Se alude también como entre los vecinos y misioneros se empezaron a dar enfrentamientos por el control de la mano de obra indígena que tendrá momentos álgidos a lo largo del siglo XVIII.

    In this paper we present the role played by the Jesuits in the process of colonization and expansion from the center to the northwest of the Viceroyalty of New Spain. In it there are two important and differentiated moments: one, is the arrival in the region and province of Sinaloa and the other in Sonora. It is also explained how the Ignatians pacified and evangelized this territories, the Jesuit-military combination was replaced by that of the Jesuit-Indian missionaries.Finally, it is mentioned how the neighbors and missionaries began to clash over the control of indigenous labor that will have critical moments throughout the eighteenth century.
