  • In this article the author discusses particle physics research in the U.S. Topics include the discovery of a subatomic particle, called the Higgs boson, by physicists working with the Large Hadron Collider (LHC) near Geneva, Switzerland, which included several U.S. physicists, the economic reasons for shifting particle physics research from the U.S. to Europe, and the future of U.S. particle physic research.
