The article looks at a report to be released by the United Nations Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC) in fall 2013. It is argued that the data in the report will be already dated, as it does not include the use of advanced climate change forecasting models or recent information about the thawing of Arctic permafrost and Greenland and Antarctic ice sheets. It is suggested that the IPCC offer online public access to its research in progress to improve its timeliness.
