  • The article discusses research by geophysicist Ran N. Nof and team on the imaging of the Dead Sea using radar artificial satellites and laser-ranging aircraft. The data was used to detect subsidences to predict the development of sinkholes caused by infiltration of fresh groundwater into the saline Dead Sea. The potential application of the method to sinkhole forecasting in regions such as Florida is also noted.
