  • The article reports that researchers at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) have developed a theoretical computer chip called Ascend which can improve the security of Big Data and cloud computing servers as of December 2013. Details of the security chip presented by computer scientist Christopher Fletcher and his colleagues at the International Symposium on Computer Architecture in Tel Aviv, Israel, are discussed. Background is presented on security threats faced by cloud servers.
