• The authors reflect on the development of a new field of study, population health science, and what this field should have as its focus. They state that population health science studies conditions that affect distributions of health across and within populations and bye mechanisms through which conditions manifest as an individual's health. They comment on how big data has helped in the field of targeted cancer therapies and helped develop precision and personalized medicine.
