  • Resumen
    • The author reflects on funding of governmental agencies in developing countries (DC) compared to nongovernmental organizations (NGO) in periods of austerity. He states that national health systems have suffered from minimal budgets since the late 1970s after the International Monetary Fund imposed structural adjustment programs to reduce public spending and privatize services. He mentions that donors channel funds to NGOs as foreign aid often cannot be provided directly to DC national budgets.
