The article discusses community organizing by the group Community Alliance for Research and Engagement (CARE) of the Yale School of Public Health in the West River neighborhood of New Haven, Connecticut. Efforts to develop a community garden known as the Little Red Hen garden in the neighborhood are addressed in relation to public health in the neighborhood. Health disparities in the city are noted.
