Este artículo se propone analizar el reconocimiento de los permisos por maternidad y paternidad desde una perspectiva de igualdad de género en el campo laboral y doméstico. Se estudia el impacto de este derecho dentro de las responsabilidades de los padres sobre el cuidado de los hijos y la inclusión laboral. A partir de una lógica deductiva se describe y analiza la norma laboral de diez países de América del Sur donde las licencias parentales se han reconocido legalmente. Entre los resultados que se debaten está la relación de las licencias postparto que se otorga al padre y a la madre con los roles de género y la división sexual del trabajo, así como la relación entre los días que se otorga a los padres como parte de este derecho y el equilibrio en las tareas de cuidado del hogar.

This article aims to analyze the recognition of maternity and paternity leave from a gender equality perspective in the labor and domestic fields. The impact of this right is studied within the responsibilities of parents regarding the care of children and labor inclusion. From a deductive logic, the labor norm of ten countries in South America where parental licenses have been legally recognized is described and analyzed. Among the results that are discussed is the relationship of the postpartum licenses that are granted to the father and the mother with gender roles and the sexual division of labor, as well as the relationship between the days given to parents as part of this right and balance in the tasks of home care.
