La disrupción tecnológica ya está aquí: cómo afecta a las personas, los gobiernos y las empresas

    Ante la disrupción tecnológica a la que nos enfrentamos, analizamos en este artículo el contexto histórico de situaciones similares que nos permitan entender los factores tecnológicos subyacentes a la actual aceleración. Exponemos las diferentes tecnologías que marcarán nuestro futuro: la inteligencia artificial ancha y estrecha, internet de las cosas, blockchain, impresión en tres y en cuatro dimensiones y vehículo autónomo. La disrupción provoca importantísimas consecuencias en forma de destrucción de puestos de trabajo y aparición de otros nuevos, lo que convierte la educación en protagonista absoluta como instrumento de adaptación. Este artículo analiza estos procesos y el futuro previsible. Aunque la historia nos hace ser optimistas en cuanto a que, a medio plazo, el ser humano será capaz de crear nuevos puestos de trabajo suficientes, la realidad es que, en el periodo intermedio, la destrucción será más rápida que la creación, especialmente entre las capas de trabajadores menos cualificados y en los países más pobres. Este proceso abre enormes consideraciones sociales que entre todos deberíamos debatir para actuar sobre ellas e intentar minimizar el daño que se generará entre los más desfavorecidos.

    Ahead of the technological disruption we are facing today, in this article we analyse the historical context of similar circumstances, such that we might understand the underlying technological factors that explain the current acceleration.

    We develop on the different technologies that will define our future, broad and narrow artificial intelligence, the Internet of Things, blockchain, three and fourdimensional printing and autonomous vehicles. This disruption will have vast consequences in the form of job destruction as well as creation, making education the main protagonist as an adaptation tool. We lay out these processes and the foreseeable future. Although, based on history, we are optimistic that mankind will be capable of creating enough new jobs in the medium term, the reality is that the destruction of jobs will be faster than their creation, especially among low-skilled workers and in poorer countries. This process thus opens up enormous social considerations that should be debated by all, in order to act upon them and try to minimize the damage inflicted on those less favoured.
