  • Exports of magnesia from China picked up ahead of the year's end in 2018, with prices rising on tight supplies and increasing interest from international buyers.China exported 76,579 tonnes of caustic calcined magnesia (CCM) in November 2018, with purchasing activity picking up before the year-end, a 20.9% increase from the 63,332 tonnes shipped out in November 2017, according to official Chinese data. Export revenues reached $424.73 billion in January-November, up 103.1% from $209.11 million over the same period in 2017, customs data shows.Fastmarkets’ 15 January price assessment for fused magnesia, basis 97% MgO, Ca:Si 2:1, lump, fob China, was $1,250-1,350 per tonne. DBM exports Export volumes of dead burned magnesia (DBM) were up by 88.6% year on year in November to 83,742 tonnes, compared with 44,394 tonnes in the same month of 2017.The export value of DBM was up by 75.6% to $25.62 million in November 2018 from $14.59 million in November 2017, while the average price decreased by 6.9% year on year to $306 per tonne due to increasing stock for low-grade material from producers.
