Resumen de "Series monétaires" et Nomisma: comment classer les monnaies grecques

Olivier Picard

  • The organisation of Greek monetary systems is analysed, starting from the coinages of Chalcis, Thasos, and the Greek cities of Illyria. Such coinages, as legal instruments, comprised emissions (kopè) as constituent parts of series (nomisma). Changing a series is always a major decision, which not only involves changing types, but generally weights and the control system as well. This also leads to changes in hoarding practices. Groups of successive emissions also punctuate the history of a series.
