    La historia de la salud ha estado mediatizada por las nociones de fe y razón, magia y empirismo, oraciones y sortilegios, hechizos y jarabes… Los libros así nos lo muestran. La enfermedad no es un castigo divino, pero el ser humano siempre ha recurrido a lo espiritual. La comunión de ciencia y creencia ha existido a lo largo del tiempo. En la literatura médica los argumentos científicos de Hipócrates, Galeno, Escuela de Salerno, sabios árabes, Andrés Laguna se fueron consolidando; pero convivieron con los ritos espirituales: oraciones, plegarias, milagros, sortilegios, hechizos.

    The history of medicine has been arbitrated by the notions of faith and reason, magic and empirical therapy, the books prove it. Divinity has been present in disease and healing. We don’t think that health and illness are punishments of the gods, but the people have always resorted to the divine. There is communion of medical science and belief in religion or magic throughout history.

    The arguments of medical science were consolidated, even living together spiritual forms and new science: knowledge of Salerno’s school, medical books of Arab physicians, and others. Medical science coexisted with spiritual rites: prayers, miracles, spells.
