  • An interview with painters Jordan Casteel, Tomasz Kowalski and Birgit Megerle about the relevance of the portrait and the uses of representation. Megerle discusses the role of the depicted body as a subject in figurative expression and modern portraiture. Casteel emphasizes the relevance of the canvas as a backdrop for the depicted characters in his painting practice. Kowalski presents his views on the depolitization of painting as an aesthetic experience.
