In this article the author offers observations on misunderstandings that take place between contemporary thinkers and artists. Particular focus is given to written works that offer insights on contemporary art including the essay "Notes sur deux vies," by Adam Gopnik, the essay "Real Presences: Is There Anything in What We Say?," by George Steiner and the book "Der ästhetische Imperativ," by Peter Sloterdijk. The relationship between contemporary art and philosophy is also discussed.
