  • The author discusses trends in the contemporary art market in 2010. Julie Mehretu's 2001 painting was sold for over 1 million U.S. dollars. However, John Duff's 1985 fiberglass sculpture remained unsold at 5,000 U.S. dollars. Other artists whose works have no resale value are Donald Sultan, Bryan Hunt and David True. The author explains that after the growth of the art market in the 1980s, it dropped in the 1990s.
