  • Resumen
    • The structure of the new hispanic society of the XVll century gave way to a great important group in the development of the social, economic, cultural and political life of the Colony: the women of the cloister. Besides their active role in the daily life of the Colony, the nuns took charge of giving continuity to the allowed and desirable roles of the new hispanic woman starting from the propagation of the guidelines that conditioned the knowledge allowed for the women that were rooted in the humanism of Juan Luis Vives and Brother Luis de León, as well as in the precepts of the mexica education. The union ofthese two perspectives gave way to a type of culture that proposed and imposed certain a type of special models, of cultural roles that were proper to the woman of the XVII century that can still be noticed in our days.
