Esta lectura del canto XXXII del Inferno pone de relieve las connotaciones políticas que los personajes, que se citan aparentemente de pasada, tenían para los lectores contemporáneos de Dante. Siguiendo el principio metodológico de leer los textos dantescos a la luz de los acontecimientos políticos y sociales a los que aluden y que los condicionan seguido en otros análisis, el autor muestra la profunda red de significados que se esconde en el canto, así como su estructura ferrea y “quiásmica”.

The present analysis of Canto XXXII of the Inferno underlines the political connotations that the characters, who are mentioned very briefly, had for the readers living in Dante’s time. The methodological principle guiding the article, as well as other analyses, is the interpretation of Dante’s texts in relation to the political and social events implied in and influencing his texts. The aim of the author is to restore the deep texture of meanings hidden in the Canto as well as its rigid and “chiastic” structure.
