Resumen de De la sierra a la costa: migración otomí transnacional: los hñähñü de la Huasteca Poblana

Los otomíes del sur de la huasteca destacan por su vitalidad cultural así como por un activismo social y político que repercute en sus relaciones interétnicas, actividades económicas y vida cotidiana. Ejemplo de ello es el eficaz circuito migratorio transnacional que va de la Sierra a la Costa Este de los Estados Unidos, el cual, ha consolidado tres generaciones de otomíes con distintos actores involucrados. En ese tenor, el interés es hacer un esbozo general sobre la dinámica migratoria de este grupo: quiénes son los actores sociales involucrados, las características de movilidad, las redes étnicas entabladas y uso de las remesas.

At the South Huasteca region in Mexico, the otomi have excelled for its cultural vitality, as well as some social and political activism that inf luences their interethnic relations, economic activities and daily life. One example is the effective transnational migrant circuit ranging from the South Huastecan to the East Coast of the United States, which have consolidated over three migratory waves with different stakeholders. In that vein, it is my interest to make a general outline on international migration dynamics of this group: who are the social actors involved, which are the characteristics of their mobility, filed ethnic networks and use of remittances.
