This article presents a revision of the concept of aging. It puts forward the needto revise the stages of psychological development described by Erikson. Therecent demographic changes and the increase of life expectancy justify thisconceptual revision. Currently, the third age is not the last age. The characteristicswhich have been attributed to this period of life, now belong to fourth age. The Human Services Department of Hartford has created Club 55, a projectbased on this new paradigm.
