Este artículo final de la serie Catedra Granés 2008 ofrece una mirada transversal sobre las matematicas de la segunda parte del siglo XX ("matemáticas contemporaneas"), gracias a un estudio global de los Premios Abel. Se revisan ciertos aportes de tres galardonados -Serre, Atiyah, Gromov- y se ofrecen algunas conclusiones globales de la Catedra Granés 2008.

This last article of the Cátedra Granés 2008 series offers a transversal view on the mathematics of the period 1950-today ("contemporary mathematics"), thanks to an overview of the Abel Prizes. After reviewing major conceptual shifts along three Abel Prizes |Serre, Atiyah, Gromov| we offer some global conclusions of the Cátedra Granés 2008.
