Ambitiously targeted for 2018, the inspiration Mars mission was supposed to use planned private vehicles to send two astronauts on a 501-day Journey around Mars and back to Earth. But a new feasibility report released on 20 November concluded that the mission couldn't work without NASA's Space Launch System, a large rocket that is still in development and may not be ready for crewed missions until 2021.
