El presente trabajo presente ser una aproximación al estudio del cautiverio femenino cristiano en Al-Ándalus desde la llegada de los musulmanes en el 711 hasta su total expulsión en 1492. Con un marco cronológico de ocho siglos, con cambios continuos y una legislación compleja, esta síntesis se centrará en ver la definición medieval de cautivo/a, cómo se caía en cautividad y el porqué de la toma de mujeres, su situación jurídica posterior, su tratamiento como mercancía y venta en los mercados andalusíes, los lugares a donde fueron y su división entre cautivas de oro y cautivas de hierro y sus “modus vivendi”. Por último, se verán sus formas de liberación, el mantenimiento o no de su religión y su vuelta a casa.

This present work is an approximation to the study of Christian female captivity in Al-Andalus since the arrival of the Muslims in 711 until their total expulsion in 1492. With a chronological framework of eight centuries, with continuous changes and complex legislation, this synthesis will focus on seeing the medieval definition of captives, how they fell into captivity and why the taking of women, their subsequent legal status, their treatment as merchandise and sale in the Andalusian markets, the places where they were and their division between gold´s captives and iron´s captives and their "modus vivendi". Finally, we will see their release forms, the maintenance or not of their religion and their return home.
