Resumen de El estudio del arte rupestre venezolano. Retos y devenir histórico

Actualmente, a pesar de los avances alcanzados en los últimos años, el arte rupestre venezolano enfrenta el reto de alcanzar estatus de valiosa fuente de datos para el estudio de las antiguas sociedades aborígenes prehispánicas y sus descendientes del período Colonial y Republicano. Igualmente, en tanto vestigio material aún presente en comunidades indígenas, rurales, semi-rurales y urbanas, espera su inclusión dentro de los estudios de reconstrucción histórica de esos lugares en los que aún pervive. En ese sentido, se presenta en esta síntesis algunas nociones consensuadas sobre el arte rupestre, pasando por una breve retrospectiva de su estudio en el país, concluyendo con algunas reflexiones acerca de los retos y limitaciones a superar para alcanzar ese merecido estatus dentro de los estudios históricos, arqueológicos y antropológicos venezolanos en general.

Currently, despite the progress made in recent years, Venezuelan rock art faces the challenge of achieving status as a valuable source of data for the study of ancient pre-Hispanic aboriginal societies and their descendants of the Colonial and Republican period. Likewise, as a material vestige still present in indigenous, rural, semi-rural and urban communities, it awaits its inclusion in the historical reconstruction studies of those places where it still survives. In this sense, this synthesis presents some consensual notions about rock art, going through a brief retrospective of its study in the country, concluding with some reflections about the challenges and limitations to overcome to achieve that deserved status within the studies Historical, archaeological and anthropological Venezuelan in general.
