Stefano Giovanni de Idzkowski, known as Steva, directed the library of the Regio Istituto Superiore d’Ingegneria (now Politecnico di Milano) between 1924 and 1945. By examining the documents preserved in the university’s historical archive, his several relationships and the speeches he gave at Library Science congresses of national importance, this article reconstructs the career of this scrupulous librarian and how he contributed to the cultural and didactic relevance of one of Italy’s most important scientific and technical libraries in the early 20th Century.
