    En Jn 9, el ciego de nacimiento realiza un camino de la oscuridad a la luz, de la ignorancia a la verdad; encuentra en Jesús, luz del mundo, la posibilidad de una vida verdaderamente humana, y así llega a ser un icono joánico del hombre. Por el contrario, los fariseos realizan el camino inverso, de la luz a las tinieblas, presentando así el rechazo de la luz de Cristo como la negación de la verdadera humanidad.

    In Jn 9, the man born blind makes his way from darkness to light, from ignorance to trurh; he finds in Jesús, light of the world, the possibility of a truly human life, and he thus becomes a Johannine icon of the human being. On the contrary, the Pharisees make their way in the opposite direction, from light to darkness, thus presenting the rejection of the light of Christ as the negation of true humanity.
