El presente estudio se propone leer la pregunta de Pedro en su contexto inmediato, la cual debe leerse juntamente con el mandamiento nuevo. Entonces se podrá ver cómo la enseñanza del mandamiento nuevo expresa la pedagogía del Señor ante los límites humanos de los discípulos, causa por la cual estos podrán seguirlo solamente cuando su camino haya llegado a su término.

The present paper aims to read Peter's question (cf. Jn 13,37) in its immediate context. It should be read together with the new commandment. The teaching of the new commandment, then, can be seen as an expression of the Lord's pedagogy directed to the disciples with their human limitations. Because of these limitations, the ddisciples will be able to follow the Lord only when his journey will have reached it goal.
