Resumen de Storie di principi e di baroni del Regno di Napoli nelle dediche degli storiografi dell’età barocca

Angel Antonio Spagnoletti

  • The theme of this paper concerns the dedications that Neapolitan authors and publishers of the Seventeenth Century put before their books on the genealogies of noble families, family stories and the feats accomplished by captains in the pay of Spain. Dedications to personalities linked with people and families mentioned in the books represent the way to transfer the qualities of the mentioned subjects to the addressees of those dedications. This fact testifies also a customer relationship, patronage and service between the author/publisher and anyone to whom the book is dedicated, suggesting useful considerations about the conditions of the intellectuals in the ‘600.
