  • Resumen
    • Design thinking has seen rapid growth since mid-2000s far beyond the engineering and arts disciplines traditionallyconcerned with design. In universities, it is increasingly being used to create programs where graduates from multipledisciplines can learn to develop a design orientation to problem solving. This rising popularity of design thinking as ageneralist training methodology positioned alongside the MBA program while helpful, obscures the central role it plays inthe engineering disciplines. In this paper, we argue for design thinking to be recognized as a foundational science forengineering alongside Physics, Chemistry and Biology.
