The article distinguishes in biblical language a frequent double meaning: a natural one and other intentional and sanctifying one, more important for the believers, which does not suppress the first one. The liturgy attaches the quality of sacred sign to terms concerning to natural things like water, bread, wine, etc., which does not stop them from being what they are. The article proposes not to deny the double significance, which can be dangerous or missing for ministers or poorly informed believers.
