Este artículo revisa las circunstancias en las que fue asesinado el ministro Diego Portales en junio de 1837 y cuestiona el proceso que se llevó a cabo contra los supuestos autores del asesinato. Una nueva mirada sobre los hechos, un estudio del proceso realizado en contra de los sublevados disponible en el Archivo Nacional y un análisis de quiénes se podrían haber beneficiado con su muerte, permiten cuestionarnos si es que no fue el mismo Gobierno quien estuvo detrás del asesinato.

This article reviews the circumstances in which occurred the murder of the minister Diego Portales in June 1837 and questions the judiciary process that was carried out against its supposed authors. A new perspective on the facts, a study on the process against the rebels available at the national archives and an analysis about those who might have gained something with his death, allows us to question if it wasn’t the government itself who was behind his murder.
