    En el año 1865, el joven Pedro Ordoqui e Iriarte, emigró a la Argentina, casándose con María Goyenetche Bide y formando una amplia familia. Allí, se dedicó a la ganadería vacuna, amasando una gran fortuna y fundando un pueblo: Ordoqui. En 1901 compró la casa de campo Puyu, sita en el alto de Amara de San Sebastián. Para facilitar su acceso, decidió instalar un funicular particular. El proyecto fue redactado por los ingenieros Barandiarán y Allende, conforme al sistema “Stigler”, poniéndose en funcionamiento en 1914.

Bertan abelazkuntzan jardun zuen, biziki aberastu zen eta herri bat sortu zuen: Ordoqui. 1901ean Donostiako Amara gainean dagoen Puyu landetxea erosi zuen, eta bertara errazago iristeko, funikular partikular bat jartzea erabaki zuen. Proiektua Barandiaran eta Allende ingeniariek idatzi zuten, “Stigler” sistemaren arabera, eta 1914an jarri zen funtzionamenduan.

    In 1865, the young Pedro Ordoqui e Iriarte emigrated to Argentina; he married María Goyenetche-Bide and they produced a large family. There he went into cattle raising, amassing a huge fortune and founding a village: Ordoqui. In 1901 he bought the country house Puyu, located on the Amara hill in Donostia-San Sebastian. To facilitate access to it, he decided to have a private funicular built. The plan was drawn up by the engineers Barandiaran and Allende in line with the “Stigler” system and the funicular came into operation in 1914.
