This paper reviews recent arguments that support a new location (or relocation) of a few communities that ancient sources assign to the coast of Thrace. In particular, this paper considers the community of Orthagoreia known through the testimonies of Strabo and Pliny, which contradict each other, and from numismatic evidence. The author argues in favor of the traditional view that Orthagoreia is located ‘east’ of Maroneia and presents an assessment of current knowledge on the subject.
