    The minor Greek treatises on the metres have been composed in reference to or beside the ἐγχειρίδιον of Hephaestion of Alexandria, but they are not a commentary of this Handbook, because they have independently spread and selected topics even. In the Byzantine Terra d'Otranto it was possible to find out nine manuscripts: the Vat. gr. 14 (XII2 or XIIex-XIIIin. cent.); the Vrat. Rehd. gr. 26 (XIII2 or XIIIex. cent.); the Vat. Chis. R IV 11 and the Laur. Plut. 57.36 (XIII2 or XIIIex- XIVin. cent.); the Paris. gr. 2558 (XVin. cent.); il Laur. Plut. 56.16 (XVm. cent.); the Ambros. A 110 sup. and the Ambros. E 26 sup. (XVex.-XVIin. cent.); the Paris. suppl. gr. 109 (XVIin. cent.). These manuscripts give evidence of the following texts in Terra d'Otranto: the Tria capita vaticana de re metrica; the Anecdota chisiana de re metrica; the hundred iambs De metro iambico of Ioannes Botaniates; the Tractatus Urbinas de metris; the Appendix Dionysiaca, the one most common; the De diversis metris of Helias Charax; the Iambi de metro iambico of Michael Psellos; chapters or extracts today know just by the Ambros. Q 5 sup., the Ambros. A 110 sup., the Marc. gr. 483 or the Ambros. C 222 inf.; extracts on the metre or the prosody from George Choiroboskos or Dionysius Thrax; chapters today known by the De metris of Pseudo Hephaestion; some short texts anonymous, unpublished or published from the manuscripts of Terra d'Otranto.

    La trattatistica metrica greca minore è quella nata in margine o al fianco dell'ἐγχειρίδιον di Efestione di Alessandria, ma che di questo Manuale non è stata un commento testuale, ha anzi circolato in modo autonomo e ne ha persino selezionato gli argomenti. In Terra d'Otranto in epoca bizantina risultano di essa nove manoscritti: il Vat. gr. 14 (XII2 o XIIex.- XIIIin. sec.); il Vrat. Rehd. gr. 26 (XIII2 o XIIIex. sec.); il Vat. Chis. R IV 11 ed il Laur. Plut. 57.36 (XIII2 o XIIIex.-XIVin. sec.); il Paris. gr. 2558 (XVin. sec.); il Laur. Plut. 56.16 (XVm. sec.); l'Ambros. A 110 sup. e l'Ambros. E 26 sup. Questi manoscritti attestano in Terra d'Otranto i seguenti testi: i tria capita. vaticana de re metrica; gli Anecdota chisiana de re metrica; i cento giambi De metro iambico di Botaniates; il Tractatus Urbinas de metris; l'Appendix Dionysiaca che è di certo la più attestata; il De diversis metris di Elia Carace; i Iambi de metro iambico di Michele Psello; capitoli od estratti la cui tradizione oggi è nota tramite l'Ambros. Q 5 sup., l'Ambros. A 110 sup., il Marc. gr. 483 o l'Ambros. C 222 inf.; capitoli di metrica o di prosodia estratti da Cherobosco o da Dionisio Trace; capitoli ad oggi noti dal De metris di Pseudo Efestione; alcuni brevi testi anonimi, ad oggi inediti oppure editi proprio dai manoscritti idruntini.
